How to trim a voice recording in your browser

Turn a longer take into a focused audio clip with trim controls and WAV export.

A useful voice clip starts with a clear message. Media Studio lets you select the part you want to keep and export it without uploading the recording to our server.

Example: keep the strongest 20 seconds

Imagine a 35-second recording with five seconds of setup and ten seconds of extra commentary. Set Start to 5 and End to 25 to keep the middle 20 seconds. These are illustrative settings, not a processed sample.

1. Choose your recording

Open Media Studio and select an audio file your browser supports, such as WAV or MP3. The file must be no larger than 250 MB. You can also select Record your voice, allow microphone access, and stop when your take is finished.

2. Listen before trimming

Play the recording and note where the useful section begins and ends. Leave a small pause around the words so the cut does not sound abrupt.

3. Set the start and end

In the Edit tab, enter the times in seconds. The end must be later than the start and within the recording’s duration.

4. Adjust sound carefully

Use the volume slider for overall gain. Peak normalization adjusts the loudest sample toward a target level; it is not a loudness-matching or mastering tool. Reduce low-frequency rumble can help with low tones, but it will not remove every kind of background noise.

5. Export and listen again

Select Export WAV audio and listen to the downloaded file before sharing. If it sounds distorted, reduce volume and export again. Save the result before closing the tab because projects are not saved online.

What to expect

A trimmed WAV file. Audio export does not add music, generate a voice, or automatically check copyright.
