How to keep a media rights record before posting

Document where footage and audio came from, what a license allows and what still needs review.

Before sharing media, make a record of what you created and what came from someone else. Media Studio’s Copyright review tab helps you keep those notes alongside a filename.

Example: your footage with licensed music

If you filmed the video but used a music track from a library, the whole clip is not entirely original. Record the track’s owner, license link and the permitted uses. Check whether the license covers the specific social platform and commercial purpose.

1. Review every component

Check footage, music, photographs, graphics and voices separately. Having a copy of a file does not by itself establish permission to publish it.

2. Choose an accurate declaration

Use Unknown / needs review when you have not established the rights. Select the original, licensed or public-domain option only when it accurately describes your media.

3. Save the source and conditions

Add a source or license URL. In License details, note the owner, permitted platforms, attribution requirements, expiry date and restrictions. Keep the actual permission or license documents separately.

4. Download the review record

With a file selected, download the JSON review record. It includes the filename, timestamp and your declaration. The record explicitly says that automated matching was not performed.

Understand the limit

No copyright recognition database is connected. The checklist does not verify ownership, clear copyright or guarantee that a platform will accept the content. If permission is uncertain, resolve it with the rights holder before publishing.
